Five Simple Tips

When you bring your new puppy home and he has started to fit in and roam around looking for things to do, problems can start to occur. Below are 5 Simple Tips to get your dog to know your his master, not the other way around.

1. Always eat before him and always let him notice that you are eating. This helps as it basically lets them know who is boss, they have to wait their turn for their food and slowly, they will realise they will have to wait their turn for everything.

2. Create a naughty spot, if your dog is bad, tell him "No" and take him over to one spot so that he knows where he goes if he has done something wrong.

3. Do not go down stairs when he cries. When your new puppy is at your home, the first few nights he could possibly cry and whine throughout the night. The worst thing you can do is go downstairs and stroke him as then he realises that crying gives him attention and soon that quite crying will turn into barking, which is not very good if you have had a long day!

4. Always have a toy for him to chew on or play around with, otherwise he will get restless and start to chew on your belongings and not get a good reputation in the household.

5. Remember never to buy him a chew toy that looks like anything in your household, that is the worst thing you could do as when the toy gets chewed up or he gets bored about it, he will move onto the real thing.
